My wife, our turtle Midori, and I moved to Burnaby, British
Columbia, Canada in January 1999.
We love exploring the Vancouver
area and camping all over BC. We assist the Byrne
Creek Streamkeepers with invertebrate surveys, chum and coho salmon releases, creek
monitoring, etc. I sit on the board of the Stream of Dreams Murals Society.
I was born and raised in Saskatoon,
Saskatchewan. |

Cipywnyk
Check out the blog I started in January 2004 at cipywnyk.net.
My wife Yumi and I run Cipko
Consulting Ltd. Cipko operates CopyCleaners.com,
a site I manage that offers writing, editing and Web development services. Cipko's main
line of work is Japanese-English and English-Japanese translating.
I'm a voting member of the Editors'
Association of Canada.
I returned to Canada in 1999 after living in Japan for 14 years. In
Tokyo, I worked as an editor for Bloomberg News
and as a copyeditor for a subsidiary of the Nikkei
newspaper after freelancing as a teacher and writer. In December 1999, I completed the University of British Columbia's Certificate in Internet Publishing.
My interests include reading, computers, music, photography,
hiking, camping and travel.

I lived in Tokyo for 14 years, and was a member of the Tokyo PC Users Group for many years. I published the
club's Algorithmica Japonica newsletter for nearly three years and try to stay in
touch through the club's online newsgroups. I'm also a member of the Japan-based Society of Writers, Editors and Translators.
My wife Yumi grew up in Aomori Prefecture in northern Japan. She
studied at Hirosaki University. |
